◇ Usage of Used to
Used to 的用法
used to + V 一詞意思為「過去的習慣/狀態」，表示在過去進行的例行行為或狀態。同時也要注意，該用法也暗指了此習慣或狀況現在已經不存在。舉例來說， Even when I used to study for exams, I would also just eat all day. （就連我以前考試前唸書時，我也都整天吃個不停。）從這句話中，說話者除了強調身為學生時的自己吃很多，也傳達出自己已經不是學生了的事實。 另外， used to 、 be used to 以及 get used to 意思有所不同，也要小心不要搞混囉。 be used to 有以下兩個意思： （1）be used to + N/Ving（人）現在習慣於… be 動詞使用現在式（am/is/are），表示某人現在的習慣。其後所接的是習慣的事物，故要接「名詞」或是「動名詞」。 （2）be used to + V（事/物）用來做…用途 這時可以視為是一般的被動語態，故use解釋為「使用」。 get used to + N/Ving 該片語意思為「開始/嘗試習慣」，表示尚未習慣、還在習慣的狀態。
Example：
1. John is no longer the kind person he used to be.
John 再也不是以往那個和善的他了。
2. I'm used to the humid weather and noise in Taipei.
我習慣了台北潮濕的天氣與噪音。
3. These drugs are used to treat serious diseases.
這些藥物被用來治療某些嚴重的疾病。
