被動語態
被動語態的結構並不複雜，可由連綴動詞 (be、become、get、turn、 to grow) 再搭配過去分詞 (p.p.) 構成。要注意被動語態是表示對「承受某動作的人或物」表示關注，而不是關注「執行」某動作的人或物。例如例句：As animals that were preyed upon, cats evolved to not get caught. 此句是被動語態，用於形容承受動作的 animals 與 cats 做強調，因為主動執行動作的主詞不是重點。
Example：
1. Theo was told many times to stop talking in class.
Theo 被警告了好多次不要在課堂上聊天。
2. They've worked there for three years but they still got sacked.
他們在那工作了三年，最後還是被開除了。
3. The data was analyzed and the results have just been published.
這些數據被分析過了，結論也已經在剛剛被發表了。
