片語動詞
keep on 與 cut down，前者為「繼續保持、持續做某件事」的意思，搭配動名詞句型為 keep on doing sth；後者為「減少，削減，縮減」之意。兩者看似相似，但其實有本質上的差異。Keep on 的 on 為「介系詞」，一個動詞搭配一個介系詞所構成的片語動詞，通常是「不會被拆開的」。例如我們說 keep on doing something，不會說成 keep doing something on。反觀 cut down 的 down 為「『介』副詞」，通常這類後方為 down、up、off、through 等副詞組合而成的片語動詞，是「可以被拆解的」。例如 cut down the working hours、cut the working hours down、cut it down。比較需要格外注意的是，可拆解的片語動詞，當受詞為「代名詞」時，是一定要放在中間的。
