◇ Participles as Adjectives
分詞作形容詞
分詞包含現在分詞（Ving）和過去分詞（Vpp）。除了用在特定的時態中，這兩種分詞也可以扮演形容詞的角色。例如 Old mansions or castles with winding halls and secret passageways...，其中，wind 原本是動詞「纏、繞、捲」的意思，Ving 則作為形容詞，故 winding 意思就是「蜿蜒曲折的」，用來形容 halls 這個名詞。另一個例子是 What's inside the haunted mansion? 這句是以動詞 haunt 的Vpp 作為形容詞表達被動的情況，故 haunted 形容詞意思是「被（鬼魂）糾纏的」。我們再來看看其他例子吧。

1. I am stunned and saddened by this news.
這個消息令我大為震驚，非常難過。
2. It's astonishing to think that only a few years ago he was a completely unknown actor.
僅僅幾年前，他還是一個默默無聞的演員，想想真讓人覺得難以置信。
3. I didn't find the prospect of a house with no electricity very alluring.
我無法想像，一幢連電都沒有的房子會有什麼吸引力。
