◇ Participle Clauses
分詞構句
分詞構句是由副詞子句簡化而成，簡化的方式由省略連接詞、相同主詞，再將動詞依主被動而分別改為現在或是過去分詞形成。而分詞構句中消失的「連接詞」要從前後文句意中具找出線索，通常為下面五類。ㄧ為表時間的 when、while、after、as soon as；二是表原因的 because、since、as；三是表條件的 if；四表示讓步，有 although、though、even though、even if 等，而最後是表附帶狀況的 and。
Example：
1. Growing more annoyed and frustrated, Nicole walked away without saying a word.
因為 Nicole 感到越來越氣急敗壞，她索性一個字也不說地走開了。
2. Failing to hand in her report in time, Andrea could fail this subject.
假如 Andrea 沒有及時遞交報告的話，她這科有可能會不及格。
3. Mr. McGill is a friendly gentleman, having many friends at work.
McGill 先生是個親切的紳士，而他在職場上也有很多好朋友。
