◇ Modals Verbs of Deduction and Speculation
推測語氣助動詞
英文中常使用某些情態助動詞，表達對過去、現在、未來的某個狀態或動作的「推測」或「推斷」。有此類功能的情態助動詞有 must、could、may、might、can 還有 should 等。情態助動詞本身並沒有「人稱」和「數」的變化，且大多都不一定能確切表示時態 (tense)，也不能表示動詞的「體」(aspect)，例如正在發生或已經發生的事情，只能表示期待或推測事情的發生。如例句中， we're gonna discuss whether birth order can affect your personality，can 表示「可能、推斷」，而不是「能力」喔。
Example：
1. My dry cleaning should be ready this afternoon.
我乾洗的衣服今天下午應該就洗好了。
2. Driving so fast, he might have had a nasty accident.
他開車開得那麼快，早就可能出意外。
3. Be careful with that stick. You could have hit your sister.
留心那根棍子，你差點打到你的妹妹。
