連接詞 While
While 最主要有兩個層面的意思：一個是表達時間，作「當…時」解釋；另一個是表達對比關係，有「雖然」或「但是」之意。例句： 1. Healthcare workers wore respirators while treating patients during the SARS and MERS outbreaks.（醫護人員在 SARS 與 MERS 疫情時都有配戴口罩。） 2. While both respirators and surgical masks are effective at filtering out large droplets, surgical masks are less effective at filtering out smaller droplets, which can be inhaled through the sides of the mask. （雖然面罩型口罩或手術用口罩都可以有效的過濾較大的口沫水滴，手術用口罩對於過濾小水滴的能力較弱，且從口罩兩側可能可以吸入這些口沫粒子。） 另外， while 和 when 的差別，在於動作行進時間的長短。While 常是「背景動作」，而 when 則是「瞬間動作」。 例如： I saw him when he jumped out of the car. （看到和跳車都是瞬間動作，用 when） I was drinking beer while my husband was swimming in the pool. （喝酒和游泳都是持續時間較長的動作，用 while）
