複合形容詞
這次要介紹的是複合形容詞，英文中創造此類形容詞的方法有很多，「名詞＋形容詞」的組合，例如 protein-rich、salt-sensitive 等。複合形容詞能表達較複雜意涵的概念。如本課的 "salt-tolerant microbes" 其實可以還原成關係子句形式的 "microbes that are able to tolerate/withstand the high level of salt"，但有時子句實在是太長了，所以就可以用比較簡短的複合形容詞。

1. You can find lists of pet-friendly motels on the internet.
你可以在網路上找到一些寵物友善的汽車旅館。
2. Gluten-free bread can be found in most supermarkets.
無麥麩麵包可以在多數的超市中買到。
3. Company profits are rising and it looks as though this is going to be a record-breaking year.
公司利潤持續增長，看上去今年的利潤要破記錄了。
