◇ Compound Adjectives
複合形容詞
所謂複合形容詞，是由多種詞性的字，兩兩使用連字號 "-" (hyphen) 來搭配，以產生形容詞功能的字。之所以使用連字號，是為了讓文法保持正確。例如 low-calorie 一字，low 為形容詞「低的」，calorie 是名詞「卡路里」。想表達「低卡的」（食物），但並沒有一個字有這樣完整的意思，因此用連字號把兩字合起來組成形容詞。如果沒有連字號，low calorie 就會是名詞片語而不是形容詞。

1. We watched the full-length version of the film.
我們看了那部電影的完整版。
2. This is a smoke-free and pet-friendly restaurant.
這是家無菸的寵物友善餐廳。
3. Amy Winehouse was a world-famous singer and songwriter.
Amy Winehouse 是一位世界有名的歌手與作曲家。
