◇ Comparatives
比較級
相信我們都已經知道形容詞比較級，多數的單音節原級形容詞會在字尾加上 er (除了 fun、sure 等)，而多數的雙節以上形容詞會在前方加上 more，來表達「更...」。然而，有一些副詞是可以修飾「比較級形容詞」，讓這個比較級的程度「更加倍」。這些副詞包括 a lot 與 much，例如 a lot better、a lot cooler、much better、much cooler 等，另外還有 far 與 even 這兩個副詞，都可用來修飾形容詞比較級。
Example：
1. This car is far better than our old one.
這輛車比我們那輛還要更舊。
2. Any devaluation of the pound would make it even more difficult to keep inflation low.
英鎊任何幅度的貶值都將會使得保持低通膨水準更困難。
3. Imelda looks much happier now than she was.
Imelda 現在看起來比以前快樂多了。
