◇ Cause and Effect
因果句型
英文裡有許多用來標記因果關係用的功能字或是片語，其中我們在這部影片裡面看到了兩個，hence 與 since。since 的用法在用來表達原因時大致上與 because 相似，而 hence 特別的地方在於後面通常只接「名詞」或是「名詞子句」，就如 So, in astrology when mercury retrogrades, all those things get kind of scrambled, hence why some people feel utter and total chaos during this period。Hence 之後的 why 子句很明顯就是一個名詞子句。
Example：
1. The prime minister was attending the conference, hence all the extra security.
首相那時在參加會議，因此才有那麼多額外的保鑣。
2. Sophie's leaving at the end of this week. Hence her anxiety to get her work finished.
蘇菲這週末就要離開了，因此才會這麼焦慮的要把工作完成。
3. There's no point hypothesizing about how the accident happened since we'll never really know.
對於意外發生的揣測是沒有意義的，因為我們永遠不會知道了。
