◇ Cause and Effect
因果關係句型
許多動詞，例如 drive、motivate、affect、contribute、give rise to、produce、influence 等，在某些情境下已經自帶有表達因果的功能。例如 drive somebody to do something 就是「驅使某人去做某事」，換句話說，就是因為某人，被驅使的對象才會去從事某件事情。或者， produce an outcome 或 produce an effect 也就是「產生某種結果、效果」的意思。 contribute to 以及 be driven by 也就是這些動詞所延伸出表達因果的慣用語。
Example：
1. The novel's success gave rise to a number of sequels.
這本小說的成功帶來了一系列的續集。
2. The senator's speech produced an angry response from the opposition.
參議員的發言招致了反對派憤怒的抨擊。
3. It's well known that UV radiation contributes to the development of skin cancer.
