形容詞作名詞用
當我們用來指稱一些「具有某些特質」或是「眾所皆知」的一群人、事、物時，我們會用定冠詞 the 加上形容詞來代指那些名詞。例如 the blind、the deaf、the unemployed、the rich、the poor、the young、the old、the dead 等。而 the small-minded 或是 the anxious 就是用來泛指具有這類特質的「人」。
Example：
1. The accused was released on bail.
被告被保釋了。
2. The Irish are proud of their sense of humor.
愛俺蘭人以他們的幽默為榮。
3. She doesn't believe in the supernatural.
他不相信超自然的人事物。
