副詞型分詞構句
我們可以使用 after、before、since、while、through、if 等連接詞，再搭配分詞構句，來形成「具有副詞功能的分詞構句」。 “This can lead to wastewater pollution if improperly discharged into the ocean. ” 為例，if improperly discharged 省略了主詞 “this" 與 be 動詞 "is"，帶有被動意味。這類的分詞構句有副詞的功用，可指示「時間先後、事件的狀態、目的、情況條件」等。
